ABOUT US

COMPASSION.   SYNERGY.   TANGIBILITY

The Strathmore Law clinic is a student run institution dedicated to furthering access to justice through the provision of accurate legal information to all persons. It is divided into three units, namely: Human rights, Entrepreneurship and Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice Unit works to address insufficiency and inefficiencies that exist in the Kenyan Criminal Justice System.

Our activities range from;

  1. children's mentorship in juvenile institutions;

  2. paralegal training in prisons;

  3. targeted research into often overlooked sectors; and

  4. strategic litigation work.

We hope to stay true to the Clinic's mandate by promoting access to justice and encouraging reform in easily and commonly overlooked quarters.

OUR PROJECTS

PRISONS PROJECT

The project aims to empower those in prisons with legal knowledge on their rights as accused persons and detainees and to equip them for their own defence.
So far, we have partnered with African Prisons Project for a collaborative task to conduct legal awareness trainings for paralegals. We have taught paralegals on criminal law and procedure, civil law and procedure, constitutional law and on the law of evidence.
